The Echelon Rank system allows players to advance their character’s rank by earning Echelon Points (EP) through creative gameplay. Each rank unlocks unique bonuses and rewards, as listed below. Riders and their horses can level up by creating artworks and literature depicting them in activities such as specialties, the living story, magic prompts, or developing their character's personal story. It should be noted that alternate universe works do not earn EP.
Echelon Points must be recorded in an EP Tracker. Trackers can be kept in various formats (such as sta.sh, journals, or websites) as long as each entry links to the original work. If the admin team has trouble verifying your total, you may be asked to adjust your tracker layout.
Rank advancements require admin approval. You can find the link to the approval thread and the required rank-up form below.

Information
Characters do not start earning EP until after their import has been uploaded to the official import account. Works uploaded before the import will not count.
Points for collaborative works are counted as a group total.
Chibi, overly simplified, or works smaller than 300 x 300 px will receive half points.
Berserker/Shape-shifting Forms can earn points, but they’re only allowed in Specialty Entries when permitted by the Hyena Companion. They can’t be used for other entries, prompts, or similar activities.
All works must be original. Recolors, bases, and line arts not provided by the group will not count for EP.
Alternate universe (AU) works will not count for EP.
Living Story bonuses count regardless of when a work was created or uploaded.
Quest bonuses count regardless of when a work was created or uploaded.
Novice, Tried and True, and Companion bonus points count retroactively.
Comic & EP Sheet Notes
Each panel is counted individually for EP.
Each panel or individual EP entry should be easily identifiable in your tracker.
The following bonuses can apply to each applicable panel individually: personal work, collaboration, horse & rider depicted, tried and true horse, novice rider, caribou, and jackalope. For example, if a novice rider appears in panels one and three but not in panel two, the bonus will only apply to panels one and three.
All other bonuses do not stack across panels.
Sketches are the simplest way to earn EP, limited to headshot, partial body, or full body categories. To count, a sketch must have clean lines, clear shapes, and enough detail to make the subject easy to recognize, even without shading or color.
The example below lacks detail and isn’t recognizable enough, so it doesn’t qualify for EP. The lines don’t clearly capture the character’s shape or features, making it hard to identify without additional shading or color.
The example below is detailed and recognizable, qualifying it for EP. Clear lines capture the character's shape and unique features, making it easy to identify even without shading or color.

These backgrounds are made from custom textures, simple shapes, or painted colors and gradients. While use of stamp brushes is fine, there must be significant alterations made to ensure the background is unique. These also include backgrounds that only depict a simple sky, bokeh effects, etc.
Art by Muddchi, NimblePickle, and Nin-Kel.
These backgrounds are rich and realistic, filled with detailed elements like plants, rocks, and buildings. Shading and colors show light and shadow, adding depth. The details combine to create a lively atmosphere and set the mood of the scene.
The rider and horse must have detailed shading with highlights, light reflections, and multiple layers of shadows to add depth—shadows on the ground don't count. This should show some technical skill.

Simple animation focuses on minor, subtle movements without significant body or limb motion. This includes actions like blinking, a tail flick, an ear twitch, or a slight head tilt. Background animations also count, such as moving grass, a sparkle of light, or a slight ripple in water.
Examples to be added. Please contact the group if you have any you are willing to provide!
An intermediate animation typically includes 2+ smaller areas of animation such as the mane and tail of a horse moving significantly, or one major limb being animated such as a head toss, pawing, or hand reaching and grasping. Background animations also count, such as a book falling off a table or a pot bubbling on the stove.
Examples to be added. Please contact the group if you have any you are willing to provide!
Complex animation involves major movements of a character's body and limbs, such as running, jumping, or dancing—any action with extensive motion. Background animation also counts, such as flowing water, moving trees, or shifting shadows that align with the character’s major movements.

100 Words = 1 EP
Riders and horses must be consistently mentioned throughout the work to earn points. While they don’t need to appear in every paragraph, a character cannot count for 2,200 words if they only appear in 200 words of the story. In roleplays, word counts are shared and include everyone's contributions, not just your own.
The training bonus applies to works showing a horse being trained in a specialty. It only applies to the horse, not the rider, and the training must be approved and listed on the horse's import to count.
The magic prompt bonus only applies to the rider becoming a mage, not to horses or other riders shown. The specific prompt used must be listed and the submission comment link is required.
The specialty prompt bonus applies to both the rider and horse taking part. The specific prompt used must be listed and the submission comment link is required.
This bonus applies to works created for the group sanctioned events. Points apply only to works created for the event and uploaded during its timeframe. The character must be actively participating in the event, and the submission comment link is required.
This bonus applies to works created for the Living Story. Submissions must specify the exact prompt used. (Ex. "Living Story: Chapter 1 - Crypts of the Old World" or "Chapter 3 - Optional Prompt 3")
This bonus applies to specialty entries. The character must be actively participating in the specialty, and the submission comment link is required.
This bonus applies to questing entries. The character must be actively participating in the quest. Submissions must specify the exact prompt used. (Ex. "Quest: Terracotta Treasures")
This bonus applies to works created solely by yourself.
This bonus applies to collaborative works created with another person, but only if you were one of the participants in the collaboration. Each person’s contribution must be listed, and it can apply to artwork, literature, and roleplays.
This bonus is awarded when the work includes both a rider and a horse.
Riders with the Novice rank give a +3 EP bonus to all other riders in the work. This bonus does not apply to the rider providing it. Does not stack.
Horses with the Tried & True rank give a +3 EP bonus to all other horses in the work. This bonus does not apply to the horse providing it. Does not stack.
This rider companion provides a +2 EP to works that depict snow. Bonus applies to all riders and horses in the work.
